Problems with Perfection - Message From the CreatorWritten by Dylan M. McElroy Welcome back guys! It's been a while. Before we take a step forward I’d like to reflect on what got me here. September 4, 2019 a teaser was released featuring NBA phantom cam footage of the 2019 playoffs. At the end of the clip the name “ZONE 623” flashed in yellow. This was the first attempt at a basketball podcast show. After three episodes on Youtube the show moved to Facebook for the rest of the nine episode run of Season 1.
“Off the Bounce” was my most successful attempt at what I wanted from a basketball podcast. It still used a green screen but it was passable. It had its own theme song, awesome logos, and a definitive theme. The best part about the show is this it was current news because it was filmed the night before an episode aired. So what caused it to stop?
This is when I moved to posting articles instead but this only lasted until November of 2020. It was around that time that the things in my personal life took my focus and I stopped for way longer than I wanted to. With this soft reboot I will try to stay as ambitious as I was before and grow the brand at a more manageable speed. I have a few ideas for the show’s future. For now just expect us to give you breaking NBA news weekly and articles once a week. Until then like, follow, and share to stay up to date. Also don’t be afraid to reach out through our many links featured on the home page.

INTRODUCTIONKiara Scotts is an extraordinary person from south Louisiana. Though she is known as quite the athlete in her hometown the relationship with the sport she loves goes much deeper than just a game. Kiara has played the game of basketball through every major level, that being a young junior league, high school, and finally college. Though she is very humble she has a great story with a powerful message. EARLY LIFEKiara Scott is from Houma, Louisiana, a city an hour south of New Orleans. For the Scott family basketball is a family affair. Kiara, the third child of seven siblings, says that everyone in her house played basketball which started with her father back when he attended high school. Because of this Kiara doesn't even remember when she started playing because it was always something her family did. However she does recall playing in a co-ed league around the age of five. Even though everyone in her family played she says she was never pressured to play and that her drive came from a love of the game. GOALS Most children playing sports usually have dreams to make it to a professional level. While this dream wasn't completely overlooked by Kiara, her main goal always seemed to be college. This most likely came from her joy of watching girls college basketball, especially The University of Connecticut, due to the WNBA not being that big as she grew up. This goal was recognized even before she started playing for her high school, Ellender Memorial High School. Her family took the sport beyond recreational sports and she participated on a travel ball team that took her as far as Minnesota starting as early as the eighth grade. These travel tournaments were a great opportunity for Kiara to be scouted by colleges. COLLEGE YEARSKiara's hard work and dedication paid off as she received ten scholarship offers and many other letters that she kept in a Nike shoe box. She decided to go to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Kiara says the school's tradition and history of winning played a major part in her decision. Kiara is also a very family and team oriented person. She didn't want to join a program to be a star, rather she wanted to be a member of a team. She said that the distance for her was a little rough but in many ways her team and coaching staff became her second family. KIARA'S ADVICEI ended the interview by asking Kiara what advice she had for other young players, this is what she had to say, “Karma is very real, whatever you put out into the world will come back to you. Same thing applies to sports and life really. You can’t expect to go halfway in practice or not push as hard as you can and expect for it not to show up in the game. Everything counts and everything comes back so always give it your all.”
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHOES!Every sport has crucial equipment. In football it's a helmet and pads. In baseball it's a bat and glove. For basketball players It’s all about the shoes!
Even before the league was officially organized there have been high tier shoe brands. Before the 1970s most players wore Adidas or Converse. However, something happened in 1970 when Puma created a signature shoe for Clyde Drexer. Through the years the top athletes in basketball began singing deals to have their own shoe sponsor. That has all changed now as it seems every athlete is signed to a shoe company as early as their rookie year. Below I have made a graph of the top ten largest active shoe contracts. Well we've finally made it to the very best of NBA. I fee like I have taken you guys on a great ride through NBA greats. This post is a bit of a milestone as it is the first of what will be many series on the site. Without wasting anymore time, let's get into numbers one through five by starting wit number five.
