Now that we've gotten the honorable mentions out of the way in our previous post, it's time to get into the first half of our top ten. The players on this list are most likely similar to other top 10 list but the important thing here is the order I've decided on based of of my own knowledge. So without wasting anymore time, let's get into the list! TOP 10 (10-6)10.) TIM DUNCANThe Spurs have built a dynasty for the last 20 years, the biggest center piece to the dynasty is none other The Big fundamental himself, Tim Duncan. Duncan made a career on “paying the game the right way.” Duncan was never the guy that you’d see on the top 10 highlights after a game but he would silently get the Spurs 20 points and 10 rebounds every game. His Hall of Fame career saw him as a 15 time All Star, five time Finals Champion, 15 time Al-NBA member, 15 time All-Defensive member, 1998 All-Rookie team, 2000 All Star MVP, three time Finals MVP, two time MVP, and was also the 1998 Rookie of the year. 9.) WILT CHAMBERLAINWhat more needs to be said about the man who scored 100 points in one game. Wilt was a freak of nature in the 1960s and 70s. For is entire 13 year career, "Wilt the Stilt" averaged 30 points, 22 rebounds, and 4 assist and he shot 54 percent from the field. His Hall of Fame career saw hime be a 13 time All Star, seven time Scoring Champion, 11 time Rebound Champion, 1968 Assist Champion, two time finals champion, ten time All-NBA member, 1972 Finals MVP, four time MVP, and the 1960 Rookie of the year. He’d be much higher on tis list if not for how weak his era was. 8.) BILL RUSSELLBill Russell is another legendary player on this list so much so that the Finals MVP award is actually named after him. His selection over Wilt to some is the first controversy on this list but we'll get to that later. Bill Russell averaged 15 points, 22 rebounds, and 4 assist for his career. His award history includes being a 12 time All Star, four time Rebound Champion, 11 time All-NBA member, 1969 All- Defensive member, 1963 All Star MVP, five time MVP, and 11 time Finals Campion. I chose to put Russell over Wilt despite his averages being much less because Russell is one of the main factors that Wilt didn’t win more Championships. Also reports from their matchups alway describe how much Russell would completely shut Chamberlain down. 7.) LARRY BIRDWho knows what would have become of the league without the legendary matchups between Magic and Bird. The two men, in some ways, saved the league. Bird, as the other half of these matchups, averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assist. There wasn’t much Bird didn’t do on the hardwood. This is why he is a Hall of Famer and why he was a 12 time all star, three time campion, ten time All-NBA member, three time All-Defensive team member, 1908 All-Rookie member, 1982 MVP, two time Finals MVP, three time MVP, and 1980 Rookie of the year. He may have been higher on the list but due to injuries his career was cut short. 6.) KOBE BRYANTThe Black Mamba. Not many can give themselves a nickname but Kobe was just different. Growing up idolizing Micael Jordan, Kobe mimicked Jordan in is play style and mentality. Kobe’s Hall of Fame resume includes 18 All Star selections, two Scoring Championships, five Finals Championships, 15 time All-NBA member, 12 time All-Defensive member, 1997 All-Rookie team, four time All Star MVP, two time Finals MVP, and 2008 MVP. CLOSING STATMENTSWell there's the first half of my list. Any of these guys can be interchangeable in someone else's list. Some of these player may be too low on the list in your opinion.
I know you must be wondering who I could have chosen over these great guy. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait till Tuesday, October, 8th to see my final picks.
